FAQs

I will arrive at your home or hotel five minutes before your treatment time to set up.  You will need two large towels, one hand towel and a space with enough room for me to manoeuvre around the massage table.  Other than that, your only job is to relax and enjoy the benefits of the massage.

It is generally safe to get a massage though there are some contraindications (pre-existing medical conditions, reasons, symptoms or situations) that could make it inadvisable for a massage treatment to be carried out.

  • Total contraindications (when a massage should never be carried out).
  • Localised contraindications (when a massage can be carried out but certain areas of the body should be avoided).
  • Contraindications requiring medical approval (you should speak to your doctor to obtain approval before receiving a massage).

I will email you a client consultation form to fill out with information on contraindications when you make a booking.  Please get in touch with me to discuss any details you are unsure about.

You can have a massage when you are pregnant though you should seek approval from your doctor before doing so.  Unfortunately, I do not offer pregnancy massage.  However, I would be happy to provide recommendations for other massage therapists who specialise in pregnancy massage.

A Swedish massage is designed to be gentle and relaxing, working the top layers of muscle with long, gliding strokes to increase circulation and relieve muscle tension. The lighter pressure used is ideal for reducing stress and easing sore muscles.  In contrast, a deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.  Slower strokes with more focused pressure is used to release chronic muscle tension and knots.  If you are not sure which massage is right for you please get in touch so we can discuss before you book an appointment.

A massage should not be painful but you might feel some discomfort in some areas of your body that are being massaged.  I will check with you regarding the pressure throughout the massage to make sure the correct amount of pressure is being applied.

It’s completely up to you what you want to wear, only undress to your level of comfort.  The areas of your body that are not being massaged will remain covered by the towels to protect your modesty and make sure that you remain warm and comfortable throughout the duration of your massage session.

I will email you a client consultation form which includes a section where you can list any areas of your body you do not want to be massaged.  I will discuss in detail with you before commencing the massage session which will be tailored to suit your individual needs.
